OMG! I //love// that place! If you stand in a certain place, you can carry on a conversation in a normal voice with a person on the other side of the valley because the acoustics are so awesome. Also, there is a wee hill - called Dragon's Hill - where St George is supposed to have slew the dragon, which is why there is no grass growing on the top - dragon's blood killed the grass. Oh oh oh - Wayland's Smithy - a short walk away - one of THE most amazing neolithic burial chambers. I have some really excellent photos of the place in my en suite - I will scan them in and show you when I get the scanner back. Wayland's Smithy is where, if you left your horse for the night, the fairies would shoe it for you.
Great place - visit if you can!-
I went to all of those places when I was a kid - it's only about an hour away from where I grew up - but I didn't really appreciate the history. Now I really want to go again!

I never went - my parents were only really interested in taking us to the places with the good pubs - but I went myself and loved it. I love all those places. Have you been to Avebury?

Another totally amazing place. Leaves Stonehenge standing. The cafe there is pretty good as well. I had the flageolet stew and it was yummy, but I don't expect they still have the same menu now.
